Opal Hatswell

Opal works in a range of materials from hand finished paper to finely spun Chinese and Indian silks. She uses light as part of the medium in which she works, in order to reveal the intensity of colour in the materials. Her use of multiple layers creates a prismatic effect with translucent and iridescent hues. The subtle interplay of light on and in her work gives it a gem like quality. Each piece is unique and labour intensive and is designed to enhance the individual location in which it will be placed.
