Gregory Tingay
Gregory has a remarkable gift for creating patterns. His pots are bold, joyful, with an authentic voice informed by his Zimbabwean childhood, his studies of art history and the years he spent as a member of the Benedictine communities of Buckfast and Quarr Abbeys.
In his work he successfully combines elegant forms and a restrained palette of slips and oxidized stoneware glazes with intricate but surprisingly exuberant decoration, meticulously executed.
His most recent work is a series of plates with semi abstract imagery which he works both on ther surface and the reverse side each piece, wrapping them around to continue his narrative.
