Elaine Jones

Elaine creates compositions which display both a sense of depth and space. She incorporates contrasting elements consisting of smooth serene areas juxtaposed with dense and textured layers of paint. Her paintings are primarily abstract but by drawing inspiration from both rural and urban landscape they often suggest a familiar sense of place.

Elaine's new series of paintings have been inspired by her recent trips to Morocco, the South of France and Northern Italy.The dramatic change in light and the Mediterranean sun drenched colours are reflected in the rich intensity of hue and the diversity of her palette. Closer to home visits to Devon and Cornwall have helped to create new atmospheric compositions that visually reflect the turbulent coastline.
